Joint Commission Accreditation (JCAHO) - Office Based Surgery

JCAHO Accreditation…What this Means to our Patients

JCAHO Accredited Surgical Facility

The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) is a not for profit organization dedicated to raising the level of safety and quality of care in all health care settings. JCAHO sets the standards that measure health care quality in America and around the world. Hospitals have been evaluated by JCAHO for more than 50 years. Our office has been evaluated according to the same high standards of quality just as in our local hospitals.

Accreditation means that our office has volunteered to undergo a challenging, comprehensive evaluation of over 150 key elements. We have made a significant extra effort to review and improve the key factors that can affect the quality and safety of your care.

The JCAHO process is entirely voluntary. To prepare for the JCAHO review, our office made a commitment towards quality improvement in all areas of our practice. Recently, the JCAHO evaluator conducted an on-site survey of our organization. Interviews with our staff and patients took place, documents were reviewed and critiqued, the facility inspected, and we were observed how we delivered patient care. Our overall performance was compared to JCAHO’s nationally recognized standards.

We are proud that our organization received a perfect passing score, and have recently gone through the reaccreditation process.

This is an accomplishment we’re proud of, and rightfully so!   In earning the JCAHO gold seal of approval, the Sultan Center for Oral Facial Surgery is one of the select few OMFS facilities in the nation, and the only one in South Florida!
