3 Big Signs that You Have Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea Are your spouse and children constantly teasing you about your loud snoring? Do you just think they are giving you a hard time for the sake of it? If so, you are probably right. However, there might be some truth to their relentless teasing that could be indicative of a further problem like sleep apnea. If you are wondering whether you may have sleep apnea but just aren’t quite sure, here are three big signs.

You Are Constantly Tired
It’s one thing to be constantly tired when you have a newborn baby keeping you up at night or if your job causes you to have to work late hours and sleep only a few hours at night, however, if you are getting eight plus hours a night and are still waking up feeling completely tired, then you likely aren’t getting the right kind of sleep. When you have sleep apnea, you are constantly waking yourself up throughout the night and aren’t getting into the REM sleep cycle which is what helps you to feel rejuvenated the next day. And the most surprising part about this is that you might not be aware that you are waking up every few minutes throughout the night.

You Are Snoring
Okay, so your spouse and kids give you a hard time regarding your snoring but is it really harming anyone? To help answer this question, ask yourself a few questions:

  • How loud is your snoring?
  • How long does it last for?
  • Are you waking people in your house up?

If your snoring lasts for an excessive amount of time, wakes people up, and is really loud then your airways may be obstructed which can cause you heart problems further down the line.

You Are Overweight
If you are a bit overweight, then you are also more likely to develop sleep apnea than individuals who aren’t. Why is this the case? Because you have excess weight and fat stored near your chest and airways, the more likely you are to suffer from respiratory problems such as sleep apnea.
